GTA 6 fan art andmemes: what Rockstar allows

Rockstar's published policy says Take-Two generally does not object to non-commercial fan use of its material that does not intentionally spoil the plot. Unconfirmed It also says it can have material taken down at any time. Unconfirmed This page is a plain-English reading of that policy, not legal advice.

What the policy says

Rockstar's support page, "Policy on posting copyrighted Rockstar Games material," is the main official source. We read it as follows:

• "Non-commercial" means you do not make money from the footage or use it to promote a product or service. Unconfirmed
• Rockstar says it enjoys seeing machinima and clips, and shares some on its Newswire and social media. Unconfirmed
• The policy is for occasional use by individual fans. It does not cover film, TV or streaming use, music videos, adverts, or books, magazines and digital publishing. Unconfirmed
• Promoting or distributing unauthorised mods or ports is prohibited, including moving game content to a platform where it is not officially available. Unconfirmed
• Requests for other uses can go to [email protected], case by case. Unconfirmed

The page is written around game footage and in-game content. It does not mention hand-drawn fan art or memes, so applying it to them is our reading. Estimate We could not open the page directly and read it through a search excerpt, so check the live page before you rely on any detail.

Safe practice

For trailers, the pattern we have seen works is to react, clip and comment. After the August 27 Extended Look, GTA BOOM reported Rockstar welcomed reaction content and clips but not reposting the full video unedited. Unconfirmed See our news report. We could not open Rockstar's own posts.

What is risky

• Leaks. Do not post leaked footage, images or documents. Rockstar can have copyrighted material removed at any time, and spreading leaks is the fastest way to a takedown. Unconfirmed
• Game rips. Extracted models, textures or maps passed around as "assets" are the kind of thing a copyright holder removes. Estimate
• Selling it. Prints, shirts, stickers and paid channels leave the non-commercial line. Rockstar says other uses need a request. Unconfirmed
• Fake downloads. Anything claiming to be a playable GTA 6 build before November 19 is not real. See our mods guide.

Our own illustrations and the poster maker

Everything on this site is original. We do not use game art, logos or screenshots, and you should not expect them here. Our painted illustrations show palms, piers and neon skylines, so there is plenty to remix in your own style.

The 80s poster maker is a Sunset Edition project, not an official tool. It is a preview for now: you can pick a style and leave your email, and photo posters are not open yet.

Sharing on social

1. Post your own work with a clear "unofficial fan art" note in the caption.
2. Link to where people can read more, such as our launch day checklist.
3. Do not tag Rockstar to ask for approval. Newswire features are Rockstar's choice. Estimate
4. If you get a takedown, remove the post and ask the platform what rule applied.
