What Rockstar says

Rockstar's pre-order announcement, published through Take-Two, describes a single-player experience Confirmed. The PlayStation listing repeats the single-player description and lists offline play as enabled. The game does carry an in-game purchases label, according to the store listings, and some features may need an internet connection and a Rockstar Games account. Confirmed

What Take-Two says

At the September 17, 2026 shareholder meeting, CEO Strauss Zelnick said Take-Two is "launching GTA 6 as a single player experience" on two platforms, so no recurrent consumer spending is expected from this launch, according to Inven Global's report. Confirmed He also called GTA Online a robust business that will keep being supported.

Yahoo Finance's report of the same meeting says Take-Two committed to keep supporting GTA Online. Neither report mentions a GTA 6 online mode. Confirmed

What the rating suggests

Tech Times noticed that the ESRB listing includes an in-game purchases label but not the label for user interaction that GTA V's listing carries, and reads this as confirmation there is no online multiplayer at launch. That is one outlet's inference from the listing, not a Rockstar statement. Unconfirmed

GTA Online is not going away

GTA Online remains a separate live game, and Take-Two says it will keep supporting it. Confirmed The free GTA+ month that comes with a digital pre-order is a subscription for that existing service. What the month includes is set out on the GTA+ page, which we did not open, so we do not list the perks here.
